Sermon for the Christian Funeral of Marlene Schiefelbein
Jun 18, 2022 • Rev. Christopher Antonetti
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! That’s how St. Peter begins his epistle reading for us today. Here we remember Marlene and what Christ has done for her, and for that we bless God for what he has done. I will tell you, I did not know Marlene well, though we have met. Yet what is important is that all who trust in Christ will see Marlene again in the resurrection of the living and the dead. That is the “living hope” that St. Peter mentions. Marlene and all who are in Christ share a living hope that, just as Jesus Christ has risen from the dead, so will we.
